Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I already have travel insurance, do I need an extra policy.

Most travel insurance policies will allow 'incidental' sports to be covered. As the main purpose of your trip is to play sports and you may be playing organised sports on most days of your trip this could fall outside of 'incidental' sports. We would recommend speaking to your current travel insurers to give them full details of the trip and make sure that they will still cover for medical expense incurred whilst playing or training.

We have put together a presentation to our insurers to advise them of your trip details, they are aware of your full trip details including the number of games you may have, along with number of days you will be training and details of what you plan to do during down-time.

Q. Personal Liability is excluded when I am playing - please explain this?

Our policy has an exclusion for personal liability whilst you are playing sports, unfortunately this isn't something that we can add to the policy. We strongly recommend speaking to your own home insurance company and let them know the details of the trip. Most UK home insurance policies include cover for personal liability. It is your responsibility to make sure that this is in place through your home insurance, unfortunately we cannot check on this for you.

Q. Why doesn't the policy cover medical treatment by the medical support team?

The travel insurance policy that we offer (and pretty much all travel insurance policies) cover EMERGENCY medical expenses. This would tend to be treatment that is medically necessary and is carried out at a hospital, clinic or surgery. The policy would also exclude massage or physiotherapy.

Q. What is covered under personal baggage, clothing, money & delayed baggae?

The policy would cover up to a maximum of £2,000 for personal belongings (£300 for any one item, and £300 limit for valuables). This would be things such as theft, lost luggage and damaged items. Personal money is covered up to a maximum of £750 and has a cash limit of £300. This would include travel documents too. Delayed baggage cover is up to £150 for you to be able to purchase essential items in the event that your baggage is delayed - Keep receipts / proof of purchase.

The policy does exclude loss of sports equipment & kit - again you may already have cover for this through your own home insurance.

Q. Do you cover pre-existing medical conditions?

The insurers apply 2 endorsements to these travel insurance policies. To put them into simpler terms for you: -

  • If you have a stable medical condition the policy would continue to offer cover for you: -

    • If you take regular medication, provided that there has been no change to the type, quantity or frequency in the last 12 months.

    • The policy wouldn't cover you if you fail to take medication in accordance with the medical advice given.

  • What is a medical condition?

    • A medical condition is defined as one if you have received any of the following in the 12 months prior to the start date of your travel insurance policy or 12 months prior to booking your trip - whichever is the LATER.

      • Medical advice

      • Treatment

      • Care

      • Monitoring

    • The policy would exclude all claims arising out of any condition caused by, prolonged by, or aggravated by any psychiatric, mental or nervous disorder of the insured person. Including anxiety, stress, depression and/or post traumatic stress disorder.
